Fleecing the poor
Not too long ago I asked a question on Quora about why Nigerians liked to end sentences with ‘in jesus name’ -IJN, the question got a few snarky answers and I suspect a few offended Nigerians down-voted or reported it. Some of the remarks were that the question was insincere, I found that curious as it is something I hear often, almost daily, even Pat has observed same, hahaha!
Today after a glimpse at a vid that first did the rounds last year my interest in IJN was piqued yet again and this time I wondered why do pastors ask for money from hypnotised laity ‘in jesus name’ but of course I know better than to ask it on Quora– the sensitive souls there will surely be offended and honestly I don’t like to offend so here I am confining and restraining my curiosity to this ”safe space” as safe spaces are a thing now– Lol!!
Enabling the abuser
The leader of the protest group in video 1 IMO hasn’t disrespected no one he was aggrieved in his spirit I say, and felt obliged to rescue those poor lambs being fleeced alive by their holy pastor shepherd. To my mind the dude Zik has his heart in the right place, however he needs to come to terms with the fact that often people who are completely drowned in this cesspool of hypnotic BS can neither be helped nor rescued. He should settle for what all reasonable people at one point or the other do walk away from religion for good and get himself started on a spiritual journey that is, the journey of self discovery.
Isn’t it sad and unfortunate in incidents like this as shown in vid how the gullible, hypnotised laity enable their abuser talking ‘shite’ to protect them. Pity! they are so far gone on the hypnotic trance road nothing can possibly snap them out of it.
The Nigerian version
Coincidentally whilst tinkering with uploading first vid above, I stumbled on the one below our very own Nigerian version of a Pastor Funke Felix Adejumo asking laity for $1,000 as seed or tithe only no one was busting this pastor. It was no shock as this as been going on in Nigeria for as far as I can remember and yes this trick was learnt from the masters in the #prosperitythelord venture– the Murican Pentecostal Churches.
Isn’t sad and unfortunate that those (many of the congregants) who live below the poverty line give their hard earned money to individuals who run a tax free enterprise in exchange for a place in heaven–smh.
It gets worse I can understand the illiterate getting brainwashed but what about those who have double degrees, masters degrees and PhDs who are keyed into this farce– this is a downside of western education it prepares you to be subservient to authority and teach nothing on how to navigate your way around in the real world, if it isn’t so why is it, so called educated folks can’t see through the racketeering that religion truly is; a tool of control in the hands of those who run things cue the camaraderie between politicians & clergy.
If you are happy as a believer of whatever faith you profess, cool and by all means ignore this piece. If however you are one of those who feel something ain’t right about the cult of personalties IE religion and the BS it spreads around dare I say welcome to the club of seekers. Let it be clear religion is for those who want to believe whilst seekers are individuals who choose reason/enlightenment over ignorance and submission again welcome to the club of freemen
